Most drivers required to keep records of duty status must use a registered ELD.
Exemptions include drivers who keep RODS no more than 8 days in any 30-day period, certain driveaway-towaway operations and vehicles with engines older than model year 2000. Devices must be on FMCSA's registered list; revoked devices must be replaced.
