Hours-of-Service Exception Handling

Prevent drivers from being dispatched or pressured into hours-of-service violations.

Procedure

  1. Never dispatch a load that cannot be completed within the driver's available hours.
  2. If a delay will push a driver past their limits, re-plan the delivery or arrange a relay — do not ask the driver to keep driving.
  3. Document weather or other delays the driver reports, and refer any exception question to the Safety Manager.
  4. Review ELD unassigned driving and edits daily.
